Seaman’s Church Institute – New York, NY

A room was given in memory of Edith Corse Evans, a Dame who lost her life in the Titanic disaster. There is a plaque in her honor at Grace Episcopal Church in Manhattan, which says in part, “In Gratitude to God for the Memory of Edith Corse Evans, Who in the midst of life gave herself for others on the Titanic XV April MCMXII.”

St. Barnabas Church – Prince George’s County, MD

Chapter X – Rome contributed numerous books on American history to the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, the national library in Rome, Italy.

Chapter I – Baltimore presented the library with a donation to be used for books focused on American history.

Americanization Course – Baltimore, MD

In 1920-1921, Chapter I – Baltimore endowed the salary of an Italian-American teacher, who presented a course for recent Italian immigrants at the International Institute, Baltimore.

St. Mary’s Female Seminary – Baltimore, MD

Chapter I – Baltimore was a major sponsor of the restoration of the History Room in 1925 after fire had destroyed it.

Christ Church – Philadelphia, PA

For the 250th anniversary of Christ Church, Chapter II – Philadelphia presented a marble tablet honoring the memory of Henry Compton, Bishop of London (1675-1713), during the tenure of William Penn in Pennsylvania.

The National Cathedral – Washington, DC

For the November 1919 visit of the Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VIII) to the National Cathedral (St. Peter and St. Paul), Chapter III – Washington presented a tree, which was planted by the Prince in the Cathedral close.

In 1910, the Henry Hudson Memorial Shaft on Riverside Drive at 72nd Street in New York City was presented by The Colonial Dames of America. This memorial to Henry Hudson, discoverer of the Hudson River, was erected as part of the Hudson-Fulton Celebration of 1909 (a temporary facsimile was presented in 1909, with the permanent structure erected the following year).

Gun Carriage – Ft. McHenry, MD

Chapter I – Baltimore purchased the old gun carriage from the US Government in 1907 and presented it to the Fort, the site where Frances Scott Key wrote “The Star Spangled Banner.”

George Washington Headquarters – Morristown, NJ

The Colonial Dames of America contributed the décor of the upstairs hall of the Ford Mansion, which served as General Washington’s winter headquarters in the winter of 1779-1780, during the house’s restoration in 1949.

Rock Hall – Lawrence, NY

This fully furnished Georgian colonial landmark house, located on the south shore of Long Island’s Rock Hall, was an important stop on the Underground Railroad. The Colonial Dames of America contributed to its original restoration in 1950 and it is maintained by the town of Hempstead.
