The Colonial Dames of America and other organizations are partnering with the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association for a virtual party to celebrate George Washington’s 289th birthday.

About the Program

From the time of the Revolutionary War, people have celebrated George Washington’s birthday with parades, performances and dances. In February, patriots from across the country will gather in the comfort of their own homes to salute General Washington with an online program featuring performances and stories from a wide variety of actors, musicians and historians.

These include bestselling author and the former Secretary of State and retired Four-Star General Colin Powell, multi-Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell, renowned mezzosoprano opera singer Denyce Graves, and 26-time Grammy and Latin-Grammy Award-winner Juanes, among many others.

Proceeds from this event will support the restoration and preservation of George Washington’s beloved home, Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon is not a government-funded park or agency. The Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association relies on the generosity of friends like us for contributions needed to save George Washington’s historic estate.
