Chapter XXIII – Virginia

HP_JamestownModelFounded: Chartered 1986

Chapter Project: Historically, the chapter has supported scholarships for the education of Virginia women. In 2014 Chapter XXIII joined with the National Park Service and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources to educate the public about the discovery of Werowocomoco, the capital of the Powhatan chiefdom and the home of Pocahontas, to produce a colorful well-illustrated paperback book to be distributed nationwide in the NPS Handbook Series. There will also be a two-sided poster to promote awareness, which will be funded in part by the chapter. The chapter’s financial support will allow for the participation of a Virginia student intern to work on this project.
