In the same year that merchant William Robinson built what is today the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum, the world was undergoing an age of discovery, invention and powerful political changes that would transform the world forever. In this presentation by Lisa Pennington and David Furlow, come find out about the people and objects that astonished the world in 1799 and built the foundations of our modern era! The Colonial Dames of America is excited to announce a white-tie gala will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Colony Club in New York City, and will feature The Bob Hardwick Sound. This event is the first such gathering of the Society since 2019 and will mark the official kick-off of the yearlong MVHM&G Anniversaries Fundraising Campaign. Just prior to the Garden Party, a special Council of Proprietors Toast at 3:00 pm for members of the Council of Proprietors, Chapter Presidents, and the Museum Committee, as part of a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand reopening of the refurbished and restocked MVHM&G gift shop.

The Annual Garden Party will be held from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm (Sunday, April 28th) in the Abigail Adams Smith Ballroom and MVHM&G. The winners of this year’s CDA’s Annual Book Award, Citation, and Young Readers Award will be celebrated during the Garden Party as well. The 134th Annual Meeting and Luncheon of The Colonial Dames of America will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, 11:45 am-2:00 pm, at the Colony Club, 564 Park Ave, New York City.
The Reading of Chapter Reports will take place prior to the luncheon, from 10:00-11:15 am, during which annual reports from the chapter are presented. All Luncheon attendees are welcome and encouraged to add this inspiring event and learn more about the historic preservation and education activities carried out by fellow Dames.
