The 134th Annual Meeting and Luncheon welcomed attendees for a celebration of the Society’s work and legacy. The event included the Reading of Chapter Reports, highlighting preservation and education initiatives from chapters across the country.

Dames from across the country gathered in New York City from April 26 to 29, 2024, for the 134th Annual Meeting of The Colonial Dames of America. The weekend featured elegant gatherings, historical reflections, and the launch of a major fundraising campaign for the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden. From lectures and galas to garden parties and the Annual Luncheon, each event honored the Society’s enduring commitment to preservation, education, and fellowship.

1799: The Year of Wonders

In the same year that merchant William Robinson built what is today the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum, the world was undergoing an age of discovery, invention, and powerful political changes. In this presentation by Lisa Pennington and David Furlow, guests explored the people and objects that astonished the world in 1799 and built the foundations of our modern era. The fee for this event was waived for all members of the 1890 Society courtesy of the President General.

The Colonial Dames of America hosted a white-tie gala on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Colony Club, featuring The Bob Hardwick Sound. This elegant event marked the first such gathering of the Society since 2019 and launched the yearlong MVHM&G Anniversaries Fundraising Campaign. Proceeds benefited the campaign.

Council of Proprietors Toast & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

A special toast and ribbon cutting ceremony celebrated the reopening of the refurbished MVHM&G Museum Shop. Attendance included Council of Proprietors, Chapter Presidents, the Museum Committee, Board of Managers, PPGs, and special guests.

CDA Garden Party

Held in the Abigail Adams Smith Ballroom and the museum garden, the Annual Garden Party honored the winners of CDA’s Annual Book Award, Citation, and Young Readers Award.
