About the Hearst Fellowship

Now in its 42nd year, the Hearst Fellowship at the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden contributes to the scholarly exploration of New York in the 1820s and 1830s by granting two fellowships to graduate or undergraduate level scholars to spend the summer researching some aspect of the Museum, its collection, or some aspect of New York history during the time of the Mount Vernon Hotel's operation. This is a research and writing fellowship that focuses on scholarship and not on the daily operations of a historic site. Fellows complete an independent project related to the Museum's interpretation of New York life (1826-1833) and present their research at a symposium at the conclusion of the Fellowship.
