Chapter XVIII – Springfield, OH

About

Founded: 1979
Chapter History: Since its inception, Chapter XVIII has tried to maintain a comprehensive history of each of our members' ancestors. In booklet form the members are able to access ancestors and their historical service. Member names are added to each ancestor if they have proven lineage, while new ancestors are added to booklet. As a Chapter we are dedicated to supporting the Mount Vernon Musuem Hotel and Garden. We meet 4 times a year and lively discussions ensue featuring ancestor stories and historical events of note. A high light of our meetings is 'This Day in History' which features an event related to the meeting date.
Historic Preservation & Education: Chapter XVIII has always supported local historical projects such as: The Madonna of the Trail, Pennsylvania House (property owned by local DAR chapter), Gammon House, a local Underground Railroad station, One-Room Schoolhouse (maintained by Clark County Retired Teachers Assoc). We have provided support for various municipal and county projects. The Chapter is dedicated to preserving local history which will be of value to future generations.
